Deeply Real Events Assumed to be a Mirage(S)

Ashwin S9, 1938

Quick bang on the button to put it on snooze. It’s 6 am and your alarm clock wakes you up. You brush your teeth, take shower and get dressed to go to work (or school or college). Taking a ride personal or public you reach your office. At the exact pre-decided time you begin your working day. You do your daily job, chat with colleagues in break and then back to work till the end of working hours. Again some travel time till you reach back home. You have a pleasant meal with your family. Then a movie or a book till you fall asleep.

Then a movie or a book till you fall asleep.

A strict routine you follow like a robot every week day. This is the reason why I re-wrote the who schedule again. But can I tell you one secret, you might already know. One of those two days you lived, is a Dream! Can you tell me which one?

(I hope you are not as smart as the fictional Sherlock Holmes to say which one is a dream because, then the following explanation of mine becomes pointless.) I know you can’t tell the difference.  A dream is identified as a dream only after it ends and you wake up. Both the events between two consecutive sleeps you have in your memories and both feel very real.

Now you might argue that dreams aren’t always same and boring as reality. “Sometimes very unrealistic things happen like riding a winged horses or you finding yourself to become the king or queen of the world. In such a case once you wake up it is very easy to say the thing I lived before waking up was a dream.” It’s agreeable but not accurate.  Though presently due to connectivity we know that we live on a planet called Earth, inside a solar system of 8 planets and a sun, inside a galaxy called Milky Way, etc. But that is not our world. Your world is the places you travel for real and people you interact with quite frequently. Existence of nothing else is of relevance. Further every world has its own local rules. Like in a free country you have the freedom of speech, movement, etc. But in a smaller world called ‘school’ during class hours you aren’t exactly allowed to chat or move around the class without teacher’s permission. Similarly, the place you find yourself in what you call a ‘dream’ has its own rules. There, a sparkling powder having the ability to grow tress in a second, might be logical but smartphones on which you can slice fruit with your fingers is a work of fiction. So, why discriminate and classify events as ‘Dream’ and ‘Real’?

I believe that every memory is very real and require equal status event the ones you created yourself. Live every moment and create memories that you would treasure for life, even those that might feel unreal. Don’t let anybody stop you from dreaming by calling it a lie, because what’s a lie?

A lie is simply that truth no one else is willing to believe.

Bhadrapada K 12, 1938

“A kid, don’t ask ‘how old?’, was constantly crying. His shrill rising voice slowly spread around the house like a pressurized gas leak. His mother, who was in kitchen busy preparing some food item, took quick sniffs in order to determine what out of ordinary was happening, until the high pitched noise of her son crying, suffocated her as if she forcibly inhaled a poisonous gas. She ran out in the hall to see her kid throwing tantrums. He was simply sitting there banging a toy car on the floor in addition to crying. With one look anyone can guess that he is trying to get attention, probably wants a new toy. But it took a mother’s eye to see the truth, he wanted to make the car fly, vertically upwards. What he didn’t understood then was, that’s not how cars work.

This is a routine. No matter how many toys that kid gets everyday, being the most adored one on in locality for some reason, none would stay intact till the end of the day. Naughty kid? undisciplined one? No, his imagination was so vivid that none of the toys could match his expectation. Marble ball doesn’t burst into flames when pressed, hammer won’t break the curtain fabric, ray’s of light won’t bend around the big toys that you throw in  mid air in its way.  ‘Stupid’ is one word to describe such a person and another is a person who want’s to play by his own rules.

Getting back to the story, “Make your own rules” she said smiling at him. The kid stopped crying and gazed at his mother. It was first time he was seeing a different expression on her face than usual. The mother, picked the kid, took him outside and placed him in front of a big lump of clay. “Build, whatever you want to play with.” she said teaching him how to mold objects out of clay. The kid, for the first time, had a big smile on his face seeing her mother turn a clay lump into shape of star. It was not the star that interested him but the ability the clay had to shape into anything. Quickly he extended his arm to grab a piece of clay and…Magic!

Years later the same hand recieved the most prestigious award, for being recognized worldwide as the best clay artist ever lived. Following this accomplishment he wanted to make something big, very big, very-very big. After that award ceremony that artist disappeared. Not even a word about his whereabouts to his friend or family. It was only after many decades that he decided to resurface when his once youthful face was all wrinkled up.

In a middle of a forest of an underdeveloped country is where he spent more than half of the life he had lived so far, doing something not known to the world. The artist though disappeared, was not forgotten. At the day of big reveal all eyes around the world were set on their Televisions watching the live broadcast of the big reveal of his masterpiece. In a huge crater formed of a comet strike centuries ago, he had build a big spherical dome with camouflaging curtains all around. It was a bit surprising that satellites didn’t pick on an object this big, big enough to be visible from the moon. Around 10 minutes prior midnight of one purposefully chosen day, the old artist stood in front of a ribbon that held all the curtains up around the dome. It was his 80th birthday, this was to be a gift he wanted to give to the world so that dropped jaws and widely opened eyes with astonishment and amazed looks of all the people would be the gift to him.

Exactly at the stroke of midnight (local time) he ripped the ribbon at one point with his own hands and let the silk curtains slide, revealing the dome underneath. The expressions on the faces of the people around were just as he expected. Even with a crowd, that could fill a football ground, present there, the silence made even the night bugs in the forest audible. All the people were puzzled, confused as an what they were looking at. First they thought it was a mirror, then they thought it was a digital screen displaying the weirdest picture, but as closer people got and time that passed for the image to sink it, they realized that it was the real deal.

The greatest artist ever lived, after decades spent on his masterpiece, had brought the sky on the Earth. He created a complete universe inside a hollow transparent sphere. The more people looked at it, less they believed in what they were looking at. Every person whose eyes were set on that sphere, they simply sat there still, looking at this Marvel for hours, without blinking.

As night passed and sun was on the horizon more and more questions started rising in the great minds around the world with one question at the top of the queue, “How can a person do something that most of us believed that only god could do if he even exists?” A ‘self sustaining universe’, here on Earth.

Next day was very busy, the sphere was under a lock down and most powerful microscopes were called for studying this piece of art closely. Top scientist were asked for logical explanations. TV shows, news papers, radio broadcasts all were filled with local scientists giving their own theories. Engineers were busy designing devices to study the sphere closely. Artists were busy creating their artwork representing this marvel. Politicians were busy rallying the streets including the name of the artist in their speeches. Rich people were booking flight to visit this remote place to see this modern wonder themselves while the empty pocket ones continued to stare at their Television screens.

While all the world had their attention towards the creation, only one man thought of the creator. A local guy who used to bring food for the artist. “If you don’t know how he has done it, why not just ask him?” he said to himself while chuckling, as no one else thought about it. He then went looking for the old artist, after a few minutes of search he found him at the bank of a small local river. Happy, he should have been to finally find the great old artist, but the scene was grim. The old artist was lying on his stomach with arms wide stretched. A note pad in his left hand with scribbled words ‘…and your time starts now.’ and an ink pen in his right hand which was soaked wet in water. The ink that leaked out from the pen made a single distinct line on the clear stream of water.

Back at the sphere more lenses were added to zoom in and see more detailed objects inside. The deeper they went, more wonders they came across. First they saw star clusters, a little closer they saw something that would be later termed as Milky way. A little closer they saw something that would be later termed as the Solar System. A little closer they saw a fire ball that later would be termed as the Sun. Going offset they saw planets which would later be termed as Mercury, Venus, Earth… Getting closer on to the planet most appealing, Earth they saw blue, with a piece of land,  though not apparent, but locally known as India. Then zooming as close as they can, they saw a building with an open window. Inside there was a guy typing this entire story on his WordPress blog at that very moment.

Suddenly that guy stopped typing and then turned to look outside the window, up above in the sky, back at the watchers from the beyond. He smiled and waved his right hand to acknowledge their presence. “

This is the modern mythological tale (my version) of how our universe was created and answer to what lies beyond it.

This story is not the truth or even if it is, I have no way to verify it.  Hence the title Goid. When you don’t know the actually answer to a question, replace it with a story that explains it, usually that includes god. That should keep the flame of curiosity burning in your heart until you find the correct answer. Goid is a self-made term, a combination of God+Void.

Goid is any piece of information in form of a story that includes the super-power god used to fill the voids of knowledge in our brain.

Why do we remember?

Shravan S 7, 1938

One fine morning, just another day or maybe not. Today feels different, brighter than usual. That is because your eyes are wide open busy staring at something. A super symmetrical red square box. Actually a combination of various shades of red, that flow on the outer surface of the box as if having a party. On it, a white ribbon neatly tied in a bow. The box is really appealing which makes you smile. But it isn’t the cover that attracts you since you rip apart the wrapper showing no affection to its bits left behind. You are curious to find out what’s inside. You open the box to see what’s inside and in that instant your smile widens. That thing inside the box, it’s something you wanted your entire life, well the life you’ve lived so far. You are at the peak of your happiness which makes you want to cheer, sing, dance, fly and explode into fireworks of million colors all at the same time. This feeling is something you will try expressing in thousand words to the next person you meet, but the person on receiving end won’t understand. At least not as exactly as you do.

That was a moment, now it has passed. You are calm and not as happy as you were before. Sure, recollecting that moment would give you instantaneous happiness, but it’s a mirage, it disappears quicker than it appeared. So here comes my question, why remember it?

You might have often heard people say, ‘live the moment’, ‘live in the moment’, ‘live the now because it indeed is a gift, that’s why it is called a present.’ I totally agree with the thought, but what confuses me is if this is the case, then why remember all what happened. We are beings of linear time and no matter how much we crave for it we cannot re-live the past, then why bother recording it in the memory. One might argue that memories help us learn, develop, grow and evolve. But why can’t we directly exist as we are today rather than growing into that person we see in the mirror? Humans are said to be evolved from apes, but no babies today are born as apes and grow into humans as we are.

The answer to that is, because we are not in one still painting, rather a series of many. We need to remember, our whole existence depends on it. All our memories, irrespective of the genre, are just messages, all screaming one simple thing, ‘You Exist!’  The reason I’m saying all this it to resolve one dilemma,

‘Pick only those memories from the heap of choices that motivate you to continue your existence.’

P.S.: The moral in the end might seem like a deal breaker if this is something you know already. If you are feeling it, that is because you have not understood my purpose behind this post.

As as child we all had our own fantasy world. But later as an adult most moved on while some continued to cling to their day dreams. To those, others strongly suggest or force to get out of their fictional dream and see the world as it is for real. Often then the dreamers get confused, lost not knowing which side is up. If you experience a similar thing, I suggest you only one thing, follow only what you believe, that what makes you happy. That is all that matters… Even the fictional characters doing fictional things in story books. They try to deliver same message through our memories, that they too exist.

Plane of Truth

Chaitra K 13, 1938

You need to believe that every action performed by anyone is justified when looked at it from a different perspective, a different point of view, call it a different ‘plane of truth’. (The fact that such an action is permitted to occur, means that it is justified.)

To explain this let’s take an example of animal slaughter. This is a fictional story of a chat between a Man and God.

Plane of Truth

I have committed a sin,
for this I must pay.
“What should I do?”, I asked God,
this is what he had to say.

“You were being really selfish.
Would you gut a man like a fish?
So what, it asked you to do it,
Doesn’t mean you should agree to hit.

I know you did this for your family,
to feed them cause they were hungry.
Don’t you know it’s wrong in this community,
You have made a lot of people angry.

On purpose I’ve made this food chain,
to make other’s pleasure, one’s pain.
Following the law of Nature you might be right then,
But, that’s a valid Truth on another reference plane.

Explanation: A man has carried out animal slaughter and he knows that it is wrong. So he asks god a way out of it. God then explains him using planes of truth.

  • The man was selfish to kill someone for food, so it is wrong.
  • The man did this to feed his family who might die of hunger if they don’t eat, so it is right.
  • But the rules of the community he lives in, don’t agree to animal slaughter, so it is wrong.
  • The food chain has been created on purpose to have a controlled growth of life and that man was following just the law of nature, so it’s right.

Here God hasn’t given the solution to his problem but he has explained the situation. All the above points are valid when you look at them from a different plane of truth.
Now it’s up-to the Mankind to decide which of the above points to accept and which to be discarded.

This message I am trying to give through this post is that no matter what decisions you take, it is right so long as you believe in it and have a valid explanation. Don’t bother when others contradict you because they will always do as they are looking at the situation or the act from a different point of view.

I want to start by saying that running is important for you.

As you know that the world is very complex. Not just scientific explanation of structure of the universe but your life itself keeps you tied up mentally. It’s like a ball of woolen thread, constantly coiling and uncoiling based on the decisions you take every moment. No matter how much you try to simplify your life, it will always keep you tangled, until of course you reach the end of the thread. At times this emotional tugging in you mind due to various life experiences gets frustrating, you just feel like running away. Though this thought of escaping the situation is mental, physical running can help.

‘Running away from problems is the sign of a coward.’ You must have heard this quote at least once when you wished to get out of a problematic situation. But nobody likes to be refereed as a coward, which is why you might have continued to endure pain of thousand piercing needles just to escape shame. Though some times these struggles pay off in the end, but there are other times when they don’t. You got through a difficult situation, then what? what did you learn? did it help you in any way? maybe not. Sometimes encountering with a difficult situation is where the universe is telling that you might have gone off track and it’s time to go where you belong. But how to know the difference? When you come across an obstacle, just look past it to see if on the other side of this hurdle is your true goal. If ‘Yes’, then you need to cut through the resistance but if not, it is wise to take a leap on the other road, even if it pushes you a few steps back. Here I am trying to tell you how running away isn’t wrong. But that isn’t the focus of this post.

I want talk about actual physical running. Every thing runs, even the photons which somehow make up this vast ever so complex universe run, aimlessly as fast as they can. Running is good, helpful, it not just have physical benefits but mental too.

Take a dive deep in your mind how running affects your mind. You start with the starting point, standing still, steadying waiting for yourself to begin. All you need to do is to take a step, but you don’t. There is a barrier stopping you, all your problems putting a leash, keeping you where you are. You want to shut your eyes to get ride of those problems but you don’t as you fear that it might give you a nightmare. Still I suggest you to blink for a brief so the moment you open your eyes you realize that at present, there is nothing holding you back.

Lost, dejected, chaotic, whatever your mental state be,

Close your eyes a moment, for you to clearly see.

All problems in your life, are only in your mind,

When you came here for a run, you’ve left them all behind.

Then breaking your inertia you take the first step. The time you place your feet on the new ground, you feel it to be heavy, extremely heavy and you shiver as you are uncertain if this ground is capable of holding your weight. You still have your other foot on the original point and you feel the urge to take the step back and get on the safe initial point. Experiencing the first step, you hesitate taking the other which makes it even more challenging. But then you do take the next step,

You slightly dip your toe first, to taste the new unknown waters,

You feel the chills that makes you scared but your shivers make it hotter.

Comfortable or not, you take the leap of faith is all that matters,

The tougher next step when you take, your phobias immediately scatter.

Next step… and the next you take as you get comfortable with this motion. As you gain more experience with each step, the gap between you steps slowly increase. Then you get in the rhythm as your hands move in synchronization with your legs. There is something all around you, opposing your run. Yet you tare through the resisting sheets of air as you are determined. As you increase your speed, you realize that the wind isn’t trying to stop you, but actually cheering/encouraging you to move faster.

Initially you might hate it, as you are troubled by the wind,

But rest assure it wants to help, it is while running, your friend.

You call wind ‘it’, might piss wind off, causing side-way tugs,

But once you realize, what is she, you’ll get all kisses and hugs.

Getting used to the running you start moving faster. Suddenly you might feel you feet are getting lighter. You no longer stomp the ground, rather simply push forward using friction. You adjust yourself into the ideal position of running i.e. linear foot step, hands in sync with legs, head bowed and eyes raised. You start riding the wind until it lifts you up, making you float in air. This is a very beautiful feeling, though momentary you can treasure it for eternity.

Once you start enjoying it and build a sufficient pace,

The wind, she comes and lifts you up, makes you float in space.

Riding the wind you feel as if, you’ve reached the heavenly sky,

Be it for a moment, this feeling you get you’ll remember till you die.

Don’t Sweat over Small Stuff

Chaitra K 10, 1938

Sometimes you might feel that life has become very complicated. That, one big problem has turned your life into a mess. That is the time when I want you to remember the title statement.

It is true that life is complex as there are many factors that influence you which can lead to big blunders. But, rest assured as the core of the problem is actually very small. It is only you fixating on that troublesome issue adds gravity to it. So even the neutral things start to bother you since you associate them with the core one. This can drop your mind into depression and other horrible things.

If and when you come across such a situation, I want you to get out of it by simplifying your life. Breaking down the issue into pieces and identify the core problem. Once you break it down, you will realize that there are some things that you actually enjoy but at the moment they were shadowed with the problem. Then, there are some things you might be neutral or undecided about, develop your opinion and stick to it. Then, there are the things that are bitter, you need to coat them with the favorable hobbies. Finally, to deal with the core problem, face it upfront while developing new options. Once you find one, do not hesitate to take the leap.

This way you can steer out of the situation rather than completely avoiding it. And as said before, don’t sweat on the small stuff.

Do not believe it is a Coincidence

Chaitra 7, 1938

Say you decide to walk to a temple. It’s a long road and while walking you are thinking of some lines; a story, a poem or just simple rhyme. You are lost in your own though and the lines that are coming to you are independent of what you see around, along your way. Prior leaving your house you are in a dilemma whether to buy sweets or not. But then you choose not to as that is your usual practice. You start slow and steady thinking every line, noting it down at various interval if and when you come up with a bunch of them. Though you are aware of the surround and are taking all the necessary precautions to stay safe, you have no idea as an where are you at the moment, on which point of the road. As your lines progress you randomly decide to make a food reference and the precise words you choose is ‘end with sweet’. At the very same moment you realize that there is the sweet mart, in front of you. The way you interpret this message given by your mind is, you decide to end the lines you were thinking about and you go ahead and buy sweets irrespective of what you decided initially. Next, you continue your walk to the temple. There at a shoe keeping stall you handover you shoes and in return you get a token with number. The number is ’11’. The significance of this number is that eleven represents legs. When someone says that I came by bus no. 11 it means that he came walking. Then you go in the temple, you come out and return home in just a regular normal way.

In this story there are two things that happened are of significance. ‘the moment you think of sweet, there is a sweet mart in front of you’ and ‘after you have walked a long road, it is acknowledged when you get a 11 no. token.’ Here the events are not important but the interpretation. There are many ways in which you might interpret this; one is that you were actually looking and because of that the though came you about sweets, another alternative is there actually is a higher power giving secret messages in order to tell you, “That’s the way to do it.” or “Well done.” or simply it is coincidence. Coincidence as defined is a remarkable concurrence of events or circumstances without apparent causal connection.  Now my question to you is which interpretation will you choose.

We humans are a pattern recognizing creatures, it gives us a sense of satisfaction when we successfully recognize a pattern in most illogical things. We hate chaos and coincidences are chaotic as they say “there is no connection between two said events.” Even though this might be true sometimes it is right to prefer what satisfies you over what is logical. Primarily because if you think it is coincidence, you will just discard the thought and move on but if you think there is more to it, at the least it will make that day of yours a little bit brighter. Also it might help you to take confident decisions without being stuck in a dilemma. Finding pattern in occurring events is what keeps your mind active and so believe me when I say, “Don’t believe it is a coincidence. It is just an easy excuse out.”

Just make sure that you keep these small things to yourself and not use them as examples to make other believe in existence of a superior power. People like to contradict and so only outcome that can result of you sharing it is you getting dejected hearing their response.
